You don’t see me

With frightened eyes and stifled scream

You look through me with those glazed over eyes

The eyes that have seen everything

Yet have seen nothing

You’ve cried a river

And taken your pain home

And it has undoubtedly

At some point affected your personal life

And now to protect yourself you don’t see me.

You stifle your emotions, you don’t connect with me.

I am here, I need a friend, I need someone to care.

But all I see is someone, as frightened as me.
