It’s so neat to wrap the organs in a little paper bag

This one goes to gastro

This one goes to cardio

And no one cares about the mind

Unless it’s

imbalanced

and that goes to psych

But who’s there to support the mind

when it does have a medical diagnosis

When it’s grieving

when its lonely

And how do we honour the experience of

those who suffer with an organ dysfunction day in and day out

My heart doesn’t work properly

My liver doesn’t work properly

And does this not create a divide within their body

How can they live in their body

when they think that they have an organ

that doesn’t work and that organ is to blame for ther illness

we need to honour their experiences

because that body part is them

and that experience of chronic illness

Is them too

and if there is a division within their

body there’s always going to be an area of conflict

and with conflict comes pain

and distress

and a long long

way

from

home
