We need to talk about lifestyle

It's pretty amazing that we are able to have the treatments that we do?

Heart transplants, kidney transplants, treatment of infectious diseases, cancer treatments

But what happens we rely solely on western medicine, "the doctor" to fix us and make no attempts to heal ourselves... or even accept the responsibility that comes along with having a "physical" body?

Too many people are eating bad food, not exercising, being sedentary and dulling themselves with maladaptive coping strategies. And in the short term, this isn’t a problem. But when it becomes a lifestyle in the longer term, then there is a problem.

A BIG problem.

A problem that noone is talking about in clear, matter of fact language.

Our lifestyles are killing us. Leading to a rise in illness that our health service cannot cope with and that we as individuals dont seem to be taking seriously.

We now know that our bodies support trillions of bacteria. Those bacteria support us when we feed them good quality food. When we do that, they help us. They help regular our immune system and endocrine system. These two systems impact every single system in our bodies. What else can we do? Our bacteria really like exercise and being outdoors? So do our limbs and muscles and our nervous system.

What also matters, is understanding our body. Listening to our body. Knowing when it is unwell. When it needs fresh air, movement or leafy green vegetables.

Many say that it is too expensive to buy fresh produce or a gym membership.

We dont need either.... frozen vegetables are just as good, cheaper and readily available. The plastic packiaging is problematic but can be managed. Exercise... walk....  around the block, around your living room, on the spot. Do sit ups...from a chair.... stretch. Reduce your exposure to nervous system stimulating media.... and spend time with loved ones.

Our health system cannot afford to provide care for those in our society that are in a position to make changes, but choose not to....the numbers are growing and soon the healthcare system will be so eaten up with treating diseases that are preventable that it will lose the ability to treat conditions that are not.....
